Using My Quarantine Time Wisely

Here in Chicago, we're taking this virus thing very seriously.  Sad to say, I know of 3 people personally who have died from contacting the virus.  One, a good friend from my early teen age years and was shocked to find out I'll be seeing him no more.

I'm fortunate to be able to do some of my volunteer work from home, though working from home is so very different than working in the office.  For one thing, my retired husband doesn't sit around the office, distracting me with tidbits of conversation, requests to help him with projects, or reminders that it's time to start preparing one of the 3 meals we have managed to cook each day.  I also don't have my dog there who is smart enough to sense that my being home means many more walks a day.
So I've given in and decided that I only will do the work that is absolutely necessary, stop pretending that I can be fully productive, and for sanity's sake, do some things that take my mind off both my work and the Virus.

Enter crafting now, in May, for Halloween and Christmas.  This is the prefect time to get a jump start on my intent to participate in a crafting show or two.  My focus will be on paper projects since I discovered that I have more paper than any other type of supply.  And I recently discovered that I don't have space or money for one more bauble or piece of paper.  So, I'm determined to work only with what I already have.

Last Christmas I ordered some wooden ornament cut outs.  I painted and put them together with other fun items like stickers and stamps into little kits for the lil' ones in my family.  This gave them a fun project to do at our family get together.  I bought more than I needed since the boys in the family were interested in the project for about 5 minutes.  LOL

I happened to have some clear plastic ornaments that I also had left over from a previous project that I hoped would fit the wooden ones.  Lo and behold they did!

I first glued a background paper or graphic onto the ornament. I added a little fake snow and then glued the ornament on top.  I trimmed the edges with red or gold tinsel and then added a ribbon and other embellishments.  I left the back of the ornament plain so that they could be used as gift tags instead.
